Erik Knudson, Project Manager

Erik Knudsen - Project Manager

Erik has a seasonal (or part time) role with Tree Top Builders. His primary expertise is in the areas of rigging, climbing, and organizational management. He also does some site visits and treehouse designs.

Erik came to Tree Top Builders in 2009 with a range of experiences and skills rooted primarily in the fields of both outdoor experiential education and organizational development. He delights in helping people find ways to satisfy and express their sense of adventure. He is also very keen to help people connect with what is most important to them and has found the outdoor classroom to be unparalleled in its ability to provide people with a clear mirror into themselves and the world.

Prior to building tree houses, Erik spent twenty years leading small groups on wilderness expeditions throughout the Canadian North. He has also worked as a senior field instructor and course director for Outward Bound programs in North Carolina, Florida Everglades, Baffin Island, Costa Rica and New Zealand. Additionally, he has led leadership programs with organizations like Cornell Outdoor Education.

Erik designed and built two aerial ropes courses (still in use) for the wilderness canoe tripping camps in Northern Ontario where he led trips. Through building tree houses and imaginative challenge courses, Erik seeks to help people of all ages connect with the natural world and to that sense of wonder and adventure that is so vital and abundantly present in every child - no matter how old that child is.
