Tree House near Boston, MA

This tree house was actually started by a local artisan in the Boston, MA area. When we arrived, the platform was up on three posts and one corner was attached to the American Beech tree, but the tree attachment point needed repair. It wasn't your typical rectangular tree house platform, with artistic flairs and rising angles reminiscent of a stealth bomber or a raft at sea. We were called in to add a structure and a lot of fun to the tree house so that the kids would have a completed place of their own.

Tree House Repair

The tree house had one tree attachment point that needed repair. When constructing tree houses, you should never place a bunch of bolts or nails or screws close together or the tree will compartmentalize the whole area around them as one wound, and the area will decay and the beam may fall down. Whether it falls down or not, the tree will suffer more than necessary. The tree house repairs consisted of removing the 2x6 and spacing it out away from the tree. Then, a large artificial limb was installed several feet above that corner of the tree house, and the load was suspended from it. Now the tree can sway in the breeze, independent of the structure, and has room to grow.

Tree House Accessories

Tree house accessories always add some fun, and this tree house had several. The owner had already purchased a slide, a steering wheel, a telescope, a rope ladder, and other features for us to install. We built the sandbox underneath and everything fit into a nice & neat, compact play area.
