Tree House Near Trenton, NJ
The clients knew that this old oak tree was right where they wanted their tree house. They wanted a view of the tree house from the kitchen for adult supervision and this was the only choice that was set back far enough from the property lines and the road. Oak trees have hard wood and are generally hardy trees, so they make good choices for building a tree house. This one had a slight issue with a bacterial leaf scorch, a common ailment for oak trees in Trenton, NJ, the surrounding areas of New Jersey and the northeast. We recommended treatment by a local tree care company. So with the tree selected, we moved on to brainstorm design ideas.
The Tree House Design Process
One of the boys had a small toy model of a fishing boat which became the leading inspiration for the tree house design. We framed the tree platform to have an enclosed captain's quarters in the back, and a large space for sword fighting and/or fishing from the front deck. Many of the features hanging from the railings, tree, and captain's quarters (tree house), were found either for sale on the internet or from a trip to the New Jersey shore gift shops. Other clients have found great looking accessories from yard sales or home made decorations.
